Chat and models

Models, Think, attachments, commands and your chat history.

On this page

Start a chat

Click New chat (or press Ctrl+N) and type your question. Your chats are saved on your computer and listed in the left sidebar. Right-click a chat to rename, pin, export or delete it. Use the search box at the top to find chats, devices and commands.

Choose a model

Click the model name under the message box ("Which model answers"):

  • Standard (DeepSeek): quick everyday answers. The only model on the Free plan.
  • Fast (Claude): very fast answers for short questions.
  • Pro (DeepSeek): deeper answers for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Expert (Claude): the strongest model, for hard problems, designs and long project PDFs.

The Free plan uses Standard. Pro and Team can use all four.

Think makes the model reason before it answers. It is better for troubleshooting and network design, but slower, and it uses about 2 to 4 times the credits.

If a model's provider is down, BlueMesh answers with another model and tells you. You never pay more than the model you chose.

Add files and pictures

Click the paperclip, press Ctrl+U, drag a file in, or paste a screenshot. You can add:

  • PDFs, for example a lab task or a project brief.
  • Pictures of a topology (PNG, JPEG and others). BlueMesh reads the devices and cables. See Picture to lab.
  • Text files: configs, logs and show output (.txt, .cfg, .log, .json, .yaml and more).

You can also paste show command output straight into the message box.

GNS3 and Packet Tracer files are not added to a question; they open as a lab. See GNS3 and Packet Tracer labs.

Useful buttons and commands

  • Regenerate under an answer asks again for a new answer.
  • Type /diagnose to check the open lab for faults, /build to add devices and cables and configure them, /chat to ask without looking at the lab, /export to save the chat as Markdown, /new for a new chat.
  • Ctrl+Shift+E makes a PDF report of the chat, the topology and the findings.
  • Press ? to see every keyboard shortcut.

Credits

Every AI answer uses credits. A short question on Standard uses about 1 to 5 credits. A long project PDF answered by Expert with Think can use a few hundred. Settings > Usage shows what each answer used. See Plans and credits.

AI answers can be wrong. Check every configuration before you use it on a real network.
