Live Network

Watch a real network, ask BlueMesh about it and share it with your team.

لەم پەڕەیەدا

Live Network connects BlueMesh to a real network, such as your office or a building, not a GNS3 lab. It finds the devices, draws a map, checks them all the time and tells you when something goes down.

What you need

  • Pro (up to 10 devices) or Team (no limit). The Free plan can try the demo network.
  • The computer running BlueMesh must be on the network you want to see.
  • SNMP turned on in your devices (read-only is enough). An SSH login is optional and lets BlueMesh read the exact model, version and configuration.

Start

  1. Click Live network in the sidebar. It opens in its own window.
  2. Follow the setup steps: your network range (for example 192.168.1.0/24), the SNMP settings, and the SSH login if you have one (or Skip SSH).
  3. Click Start scan. A big range can take a few minutes.

Just want to look first? Click Try the demo network.

Your SNMP and SSH passwords are kept only in memory. BlueMesh forgets them when you disconnect or close the window.

The map

Devices are grouped by building and floor. Colours show Up, Degraded, Down and Unknown. Choose how often to check every device with Check every (10 seconds to 5 minutes). BlueMesh plays a sound when a device goes down or comes back. Click a device to see its details, neighbours and configuration.

Ask BlueMesh about your network

Use the Ask BlueMesh chat inside the Live Network window. It sees every device, link, alert and configuration on the map, so you can ask "Why is floor 2 slow?" or "Which switch is SW-B1-F2 connected to?". On a device, click Ask BlueMesh about that device to ask about it alone.

The Use in chat switch also sends the live network to the main chat window. The main chat uses one source at a time: the live network or a GNS3 lab, never both.

Share with your team

On the Team plan, click Share with Team. Your team members then see the same map and the same Live Network conversation, updated live. Only you can type commands on the devices; the command line is turned off for everyone else.

Changes to real devices

Live Network is read-only at the start. To change devices, turn on Config changes and confirm. Then:

  • configure terminal works in the device terminal.
  • reload, erase and format are always refused.
  • Every command you type is kept. BlueMesh keeps a rollback point and watches the device after each change.
  • Roll back last change puts the old configuration back. You must type the device name to confirm.
  • Config changes turn off again when you restart BlueMesh.

Backups, plans and exports

At the bottom of the window:

  • Back up configs saves every device's configuration. A device's config history lets you compare two versions and roll back.
  • Change plan and MOP lets you write the commands for each device and save a change plan or a Method of Procedure as Markdown or PDF.
  • Inventory CSV and NetBox CSV export your device list.
  • Messages from devices shows syslog messages and SNMP traps.

Live Network is paused during a certification exam.
